2016….
……Ten years have passed since the infamous accounts on Alcatraz Island. The ‘cure’, which was to be the turning point of the mutant community, was distributed for months after the events in clinics and hospitals around the globe. Thousands upon thousands of nature’s choice to be different lined up and took the serum. An uproar in the Brotherhood with the loss of both Mystique and Magneto put a young John Allerdyce in charge. However, recently, the two have managed to become whole once again and retain their control and expand the Brotherhood into a more powerful and deadly weapon than before.
The Xavier Institute although adamant about keeping their doors open to anyone who wanted to bring themselves to learn about their mutation and survive without the cure, struggled emotionally with the loss of three very important members. But after only six months, a young strapping man came to the door claiming to be the mind of one Charles Xavier inside the body of another. His continuous efforts to see that humanity would be saved and all mutants could leave in peace with humans were a continued effort for four years.
Another lost soul was coming home. Scott Summers, whom was thought to be dead at the hands of the Phoenix, emerged from another plane of existence to fight his way back to those he loved at the mansion. His heart was still torn at the loss of Jean Grey at the hands of Logan Howlett, but he also understood the necessity of survival for those she was sacrificed for. His continuance as a teacher, mentor, and leader have helped to maintain the school’s integrity and balance while the others who have come since and afterwards also strive to achieve the highest standards for the school’s graduates.
But times change and nature once again will get her revenge; for the cure was not permanent and the mutant community would grow exponentially once again. The likes of Raven Darkholme and Eric Lehnsherr were not heard from, but they were back, quietly waiting their time to return to the home they once knew. As news began to spread throughout the world of the government’s failure at creating a gene suppressing drug, it soon began to fall apart even further. The president, John Kelly, who was elected to a second term, was assassinated. The Vice President Patrick Daughty, close personal friend to Hank McCoy, took the oath of Commander and Chief, trying to regain its power once more. Failure to regain control of the people and the division of mutants with humans would become a more difficult task since now the government was deemed all but a failure in itself.
The government’s ongoing efforts did not go unnoticed as another group of individuals began to arise from the woodworks. The Friends of Humanity or FOH were beginning to form under the secret discretion of one Senator Don Hinckle in an effort to wipe the earth of it’s flaws and defects…namely mutants. During his term, he and other delegates were able to pass a law requiring all mutants to register their claim of difference amongst the world. It would be called the Mutant Registration Act and in 2014, it became law. Any mutant not found to have been placed in the government’s directory could be subject to trial and placed in a prison skillfully built to sustain all kinds of powers through the deep pocketbook of the some of the wealthiest humans on the planet. The FOH, however, continue to plan the demise of all mutants by periodically wiping away records and claiming that certain individuals were never placed in the data banks. They were even given permission to use force if necessary to mutants that were considered a danger to society and themselves placing an unwanted military force of weaponry and medicines along with top-notch technology at their disposal. Their leader, who has yet to be named, is adamant about returning the earth to its purest form ridding the world of the infestation known as mutants.
But, yet another sleeping force has finally awoken from a deep slumber. It is a force that has slept dormant for nearly 10 years and is need of a new host, or possibly hosts. The entity known as the Phoenix has need for new blood and carries with it the memories and characteristics of those it has shared a body with. Jean Grey was not of a dual personality, but of a duel life because the entity enjoyed her slumber, her company, and the mind it so delicately encumbered. Leaving her side was something not usually foreseen in such power as the Phoenix holds, but its release as struck a new vengeance, a new mission. It wants to once again feel the need of someone’s flesh surrounding its power. Whomever it chooses will reap the rewards of glory, but could find the same demise as its last host.
There are mutants out there yet to have taken a side in their struggle to live in today’s society. Some have found sanctuary in a place called the Underground. There are no rules except that of the governments and there are usually no humans. It’s a place where neither the discipline of a school or the discipleship of another cause hasn’t already chosen its members. It’s place where many reside and choices are rendered.
…….who will you stand with?[/b][/font]
